Yoga is an ancient science that originated over 5,000 years ago. The practice of yoga encourages the balance of all systems in the body, with yoga postures helping to develop strength and flexibility, while also promoting correct alignment, breathing, and relaxation. At Port Moody Integrated Health, we believe that a flexible and mobile body is an important part of a healthy body, and we have chosen DRU Yoga because it is a graceful and potent form of yoga, based on soft flowing movements, directed breathing, and visualization.

With its foundations set firmly in ancient yogic tradition, it works on the body, mind, and spirit – improving strength and flexibility, while creating core stability. The practice of DRU Yoga can also increase energy levels and help alleviate stress. It is designed to be practiced by people of all abilities and fitness levels. DRU Yoga focuses the mind, helps to release muscle tension, and encourages positive body language (proper alignment). As well, the controlled breathing techniques used in the practice of DRU Yoga help bring awareness within, encouraging the practitioner to be present in the moment, which is an important part of the pursuit of stress relief.
