Non-violent Communication: Chris Rowe

Chris Rowe has been living in Port Moody since 2003. He enjoys the strong sense of community he’s found here and loves living close to the Pacific Ocean and coastal mountains. Chris is currently in a five year doctoral program in clinical psychology at Antioch University in Seattle, Washington, with a focus on forensic and health psychology.

It was in 2007 at Vancouver’s Langara College that Chris was first introduced to the compassionate communication model. He was deeply moved by the positive changes he experienced using compassionate communication in his own life and decided to complete a nine day intensive training course with Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, the founder of this model. Chris has since gone on to facilitate compassionate communication workshops for BC Children’s Hospital, Share Family Services and the Burnaby School District. He has also lead workshops at the Mission Institution Prison and at Ferndale and Matsqui prisons.

Chris loves the sense of contribution, connection, creativity, growth, learning, challenge and fun that he experiences when facilitating communication workshops and mediations. He is excited to be working with the Port Moody Integrated Health team and especially appreciates the clinic’s collaborative and empathic approach to healthcare.

An outdoor and fitness enthusiast, Chris leads a very active life. In his free time, Chris can be found engaging in one of his many passions, including backcountry skiing, climbing and mountaineering, bike touring, long distant hiking, tennis and squash.
